I loved the old photos of my mum looking pretty and poised in her pose but I equally adored the ones where she wasn't quite ready for the shot. I almost feel like I'm in the moment with her and can hear her saying to her photographer, "You have to hold down the button," or, "Hold on, the wind is blowing my hair." And yet, she still looks perfect.
